Eyeglasses Distribution for Vulnerable Communities through the Government of Japan
From May 2016 to February 2017, an IOM project provided eye care health activities for vulnerable communities in northern Iraq. More than 5,500 displaced children received vision screenings, and more than 1,000 received full eye examinations and prescription glasses.
The Government of Japan funded the eyeglasses distribution project through Fuji Megane Co. The project involved: initial screening, transportation of beneficiaries to IOM clinic, full eye examinations with eyeglasses prescription and eyeglasses distribution.
